Queen Charlotte

Prior to her marriage she was Princess Sophia Charlotte Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Born in Germany, Charlotte was chosen as a suitable bride for George III. They wed in 1761. She had fifteen children, thirteen of whom survived into adulthood.
Charlotte was well educated and took an interest in botany and music.
The latter years of her marriage were overshadowed by her husband's ill-health. She predeceased George III, dying in 1818.
