Janet Galloway supported women's education and became secretary of the Association for the Higher Education of Women. From 1883 she was Honorary Secretary to Queen Margaret College which she represented at the Great Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. She was awarded an Honorary LLD by the University of Glasgoew in 1907.
