The Paisley, Bargarron or Renfrewshire Witches were 4 women and 3 men: Margaret Lang, Catherine Campbell, Margaret Fulton, and Agnes Naismith, John Lindsay, James Lindsay (brothers aged 11 and 14) John Reid.

They were accused of having bewitched Christian Shaw, an 11 year old girl, daughter of the Laird of Bargarron. They were found guilty and condemned to death.

James Reid hanged himself in prison. The others were hanged and burnt at Gallow Green on 10 June 1697. Catherine and Agnes cursed those present,
