Jean Lumsden

died 2 March 1684

Nothing is known of Jean Lumsden beyond the facts stated on her gravestone - she was the wife of Captain John Anderson and she died 2 March 1684.

However, as the name of Elisabeth Aberdour, wife of Matthew Lumsden, appears further down the stone, it seems reason to assume that Jean Lumsden and Matthew Lumsden were closely related. Matthew Lumsden was the son of Robert Lumsden of Clova. Matthew Lumsden was a Baillie of Aberdeen and owned the house now known as Provost Skene's House. He was a covenanter and died in 1644 at the Battle of Justice Mills, when Montrose defeated the army defending Aberdeen.
