The daughter of Henry Blyth and Jessie Bell, she was born in Dundee.
She married William Kerr in 1866. She was widowed in April 1877. She married William Young Blyth Martin in January 1878.

She lived at Blyth House, Newport-on-Tay.

She donated the Blyth Hall, Newport in memory of her brothers for the benefit of the inhabitants of Newport. .

She donated the fountain, based on her own designs, to Newport.

She endowed the University of Dundee with £2000 for two bursaries - the Mrs Isabella Blyth Martin Bursary.

She created a fund to support six poor women in Newport.

She left money to the Dundee Orphan Institution

She died in Newport in 1898.
