Gwendolen Janet Forbes-Semphill

Title:
The Hon.
Other names:
She was known as Gwyneth
Dates:
26 Dec 1897 - 10 Mar 1910

Gwendolen (known as Gwyneth) was the second of four children of John, Lord Semphill, and Gwendolen Prodgers. Her brother, Ewan, who was born after her death, wrote this in his memoirs: "A sister was born with a lovely face and the sweetest disposition, so everyone agreed. Unfortunately she died from peritonitis from a burst appendix in 1910. I believe both my parents were very grief-stricken at the time. The Fintray Estate Tenantry erected a granite horse trough which is situated at the road side just beyond the West Lodge, with a drinker for the human race at one end and a little bowl for dogs at a low level at the other end. It bears the inscription "Be Kind to Animals."

She is buried in St Meddans churchyard, Cothal, Fintray.
