Deirdre of the Sorrows

When Deirdre was born, in Ireland, it was foretold that she would be a great beauty, but would bring bloodshed to Ireland. As a result, it was arranged that she would be raised in seclusion by a foster-mother, and married to Conchobar, king of Ulster. However, she fell in love with a young man, Naoise, and the pair fled to Scotland. They were hunted down, and Naoise killed. Deirdre was forced to marry Conchobar.
