Memorial to Flora Murray

Dedicated to: 
Inscription: 

In memory of Flora Murray, Daughter of /
John Murray of Murraythwaite, Commander, R.N. /
Born 8th May 1869. She Graduated at London University /
in 1902. D.P.H. Cambridge 1905. On the outbreak of War, she /
formed and took to France a complete Women's Voluntary /
Hospital Unit. In May 1915, at the request of H.M. War Office, /
she opened the Military Hospital, Endell Street, which command /
she held until it closed in Oct. 1919, with the military grade /
of Lieutenant-Colonel. She died 28th July 1923, and is buried /
at Penn in Buckinghamshire.

This stone
commemorates the restoration of Dunblane Cathedral
begun in September 1889
finished in October 1893
and records the piety of Janet Weir, widow of David Wallace
of Glassingall whose love for the church of her fathers
originated the undertaking and whose munificence
chiefly contributed to its successful completion

In memory of Margaret eldest daughter of John 1st Lord Drummond By tradition privately married to King James IV and poisoned at Drummond Castle with her sisters Euphemia and Sybilla by some of the Nobles who desired the Kings marriage with Princess Margaret of England The three sisters were buried beneath these slabs in the choir of the cathedral of which their uncle Walter Drummond was Dean AD 1501
