Josephine Ogilvie

Josephine Ogilvie was born in Edinburgh. She became a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart, a teaching order of nuns in 1953. She taught in Armagh, Craiglockhart in Edinburgh and at Kilgraston in Perthshire before moving to Aberdeen in 1983. She taught at a primary school and was then promoted to religious education adviser for the Diocese of Aberdeen.

Victoire Larmenier

Born in Brittany, France, Victoire Larmenier worked for her step-father's tailoring business as secretary and book keeper, before setting up her own haberdashery business. She entered the Paris novitiate of the Little Sisters of the Poor in February 1851.

She was sent from France to London to set up a religious community in Hammersmith. The first Nazareth House opened in 1857. In 1862 she travelled north with six other nuns to establish a community of the Poor Sisters of Nazareth in Aberdeen.
