Bega

Title:
Saint
Dates:

Bega moved from County Down to join a religious community in Cumbria. The area in which she lived, St Bees, takes its name from her. She was one of the group led by St Aidan, and is believed to have deputised for Hilda of Whitby. Various place names in southern Scotland suggest that she travelled in this area.
