Girlguiding Scotland and the Big Name Hunt!
In 2011, Girlguiding Scotland took a lead in the search for Scotland's women by encouraging their girls and young women to take part in The Big Name Hunt! Although the site has now been opened up for everyone to contribute information about memorials, we hope that Girlguiding units in Scotland will continue to get involved in the search for memorials.
If you are a member of the Trefoil Guild in Scotland, you can also take part.
- You can find out all about the project in the February 2011 edition of Blueprint. This article explains how to get started, suggests activities and outcomes for all age-groups and lists sources of help. Click here to download a copy of the article.
- The Big Name Hunt User's Guide gives practical guidance and support for leaders and groups at all stages of the project. Read the Big Name Hunt User's Guide here or Click here to download a PDF version.
- A two-page form, designed to be filled in by hand, is also provided to help groups or individuals collect all the information needed for a Big Name Hunt record. Once you have filled in as much of the form as you can, you can use it to add details of a memorial and a woman to the map. Click here to download the Big Name Hunt Record Form.
Before starting to enter this information into the website, leaders will need to register for the Big Name Hunt with Girlguiding Scotland. Download the registration form here, then send the completed form by email to linda@girlguiding-scot.org.uk.
